Youth Ministry is designed for all youth in grades 6 -12
The teen years are an important stage in our faith journey. They offer opportunities to question and grow in our faith and in our communities and United is committed to supporting our teens as they explore their relationship with God and our world.
We welcome youth of all gender, sexual, and racial identities (to learn more about our commitment to inclusivity, please see our our RIC statement). Our youth programming is for those in 6th through 12th grade.
At United we are committed to welcoming all youth into our programing regardless of where they are on their faith journey. We are here to meet you where you are and grow with you together. We welcome questions and exploration and invite you to join us as you are able.
Sunday Mornings
On Sunday mornings teens are invited to join us in worship and/or to volunteer with the kid worship. We encourage all age participation in worship and would love for you to help assist with the various parts of the service. Let us know if you are interested in hearing about more ways you can take an active role in the service.
Sunday school classes are available post service at 10:45. Middle and High school students will meet together to discuss and explore the topic for that week. All classes will have an adult facilitator and topics are designed to relate to challenges facing our teens in their day to day lives.
Confirmation Classes
Confirmation class is for youth in 7th and 8th grade, older teens are welcome to participate as well. The class meets on Wednesday nights at 6-7pm and is facilitated by the Pastor and Program Director. The 2 year curriculum focuses on preparing our teens to take an active role in their faith and social communities. We include topics about the Bible, Christian history, the Church today and Lutheranism.
Youth Group
Middle school youth group meets on the 3rd Sunday of every month, and High school youth group meets on the 2nd Sunday of every month. This time is designed to build community and create a relaxed space where our teens can enjoy fellowship and faith. Some activities will take place at the church while others will happen out in the community. We will also have various opportunities throughout the year to come together to work on service projects for others.
Summer Service trip
Each summer our youth (entering freshmen year and above) have the opportunity to participate in a weeklong summer service trip. These trips will vary in location depending on the year, but the purpose is to experience God’s love and grace through service-learning opportunities. We honor the example that Jesus set for us when he washed the disciples’ feet, that it is by serving each other that we truly serve and know God. Our trips emphasize the importance of coming alongside and learning from our neighbor and honor the philosophy of reciprocal service, that in an act of service all parties are giving equally to each other.
